This is the second year of this fair. Last time it was sold for 1 crore 87 lakhs. Besides silk, bamboo art, Kantha stitch, Pithepuli, Saraswati pendants of Dokra are also sold. The Khadi authorities have awarded over this sale. Vijaypur Silk Khadi Seva Samiti of Murshidabad bagged the first position. Till 20th they have sold 10 lakh 9,980 taka. Second place was occupied by Jhargram Khadi and Village Industry Society. Their sales are 8 lakh 53 thousand 329 taka. Third place Budhigram Region Silk Khadi Industrial Society. They have sold 7 lakh 25 thousand 430. Dipu Kantha Stitch of Birbhum and Ajmer Kantha Stitch of the same district became joint first in village industry. Their sales amount is 8 lakh 62 thousand 350 taka. Second is Mansa Bambu, a mother from Cooch Behar in North Bengal. Their sales volume is 8 lakh 19 thousand 100 taka. Arshad Sheikh of North 24 Parganas came third. He gave Tk 3 lakh 98 thousand 500 to the Khadi house by selling plastic flowers. The full winter along with Makar Sankranti season was not far behind Pithepuli stalls. 6 lakh 25 thousand 882 were sold at that stall in Nadia. The administration was shocked by this huge sale at a pithe-puli stall. Officials of various departments of the district visited the fair every day and encouraged the fair. Sandhyarani Tudu, Minister of State in charge of Western Area Development Department, Purulia Zila Parishad Chairperson Nivedita Mahato also visited the fair.
Sales of Tulaipanji rice were also good among household items. Sales were so high that stock had to be restocked. Tube jaggery is also sold. Balaram Karmakar of Dokra Handicrafts in Bikaner, Bankura said, “I did not think that the sales would reach close to two lakhs. I did not come to the fair last time. But the sale was huge in that fair. That is why I came this time. It was very good to come. Saraswati’s pendant necklace sold very well before the worship of the Goddess.”
