New Delhi: BMW India has delivered more than 1,000 units of its electric flagship sedan, the BMW i7, since it was launched in the country. This makes it one of the most successful luxury electric cars in India so far and shows that buyers in the high-end segment are slowly warming up to electric vehicles.
The BMW i7 sits at the top of the brand’s lineup and is the electric version of the 7 Series. It is positioned as a luxury-focused EV that does not compromise on comfort, performance, or size. Its sales indicate that customers who usually prefer petrol or diesel luxury sedans are now willing to consider electric options, especially in the premium category.

BMW i7 design
In terms of design, the i7 carries a strong road presence. It is a large sedan with a bold front look. The split headlamp setup, crystal-style daytime running lights and the illuminated kidney grille make it easy to recognise. These features give the car a modern appearance while still keeping it clearly within BMW’s design language.
The interior is designed mainly for rear-seat comfort. At the front, the car gets BMW’s curved display and the latest iDrive system, which includes navigation, real-time traffic updates, and an augmented view feature. Rear passengers get a 31-inch 8K theater screen, which runs Amazon Fire TV and is meant for entertainment on long drives. The back seats also offer features such as extended recline, massage, ventilation, and premium leather upholstery. The glass roof with ambient lighting adds to the cabin experience.
Powering the BMW i7 eDrive50 is the brand’s fifth-generation electric drivetrain. It produces 449 HP and 650 Nm of torque. The sedan can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds, which is quick for a car of this size. It has a driving range of up to 603 km on a full charge (according to the brand’s WLTP).
