Tucked away along Northumberland's breathtaking coastline lies this bay, offering spectacular views for the perfect stroll and a haven for nature enthusiasts.

Budle Bay is situated within the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is regarded as one of the region's best-kept secrets, remaining relatively peaceful. What attracts visitors to the bay is its wealth of marine life and other creatures, forming a thriving ecosystem as part of the Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve.

The bay is encircled by sweeping hills, sandy dunes and dramatic cliffs, providing plenty to take in during your coastalrambles. Whether you fancy viewing the sea from elevated vantage points, wandering along the shoreline or discovering the surrounding wetlands, nature takes centre stage here, with an abundance to experience.

Positioned between Bamburgh and Lindisfarne, many visitors choose to stroll along the bay on their way to the magnificent Bamburgh Castle.

The location welcomes dogs with open arms, allowing you to take a scenic detour and delve into the area's fascinating heritage, stretching back to the 13th century.

This now peaceful retreat was once a thriving 13th-century port, previously known as Warenmouth. It's thought to have served as a vital commercial centre in the Northeast for maritime trade before shutting down in the early 20th century.

A recent guest shared on TripAdvisor: "One of the best beaches we've visited. There's nothing else there, no shops or amusements, etc., so I've rarely seen it super busy. When the tide is out, it leaves behind big pools which are lovely for children and dogs to play in safely. One of my favourite places in Northumberland."

Meanwhile, another added: "Just breathtaking! Even when the tide is out, the mudflats attract feeding rare birds – a nature reserve like no other. Sandy Beach is about two miles out to sea from the observation point but worth the walk."

Budle Bay serves as an excellent spot for birdwatching, as numerous different species inhabit the area.

From seabirds to wading birds and migratory species, visitors can anticipate spotting plenty, including glimpses of seals, otters and occasionally even dolphins in the distant waters.

Adjacent to the bay sits a family-operated campsite, known simply as Budle Bay Campsite, which provides a relaxed atmosphere for coastal stays.

The facility accommodates caravans, motorhomes, and campervans alongside tents for pitching on grass.

Just beyond the bay lies Bamburgh Beach, which provides a more conventional expansive white sandy shoreline, perfect for family days out and designed for watersports.

It's a location where visitors will frequently witness abundant surfing and kitesurfing alongside swimming, as the beach provides direct vistas of the Farne Islands.
