New Delhi. A photo of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is rapidly going viral on social media, in which he is seen talking on a smartphone. But the most attention in this photo went to the camera on the back of his phone, on which tape or a sticker is seen stuck. In the photo, Netanyahu is seen wearing a black jacket and white shirt, standing near a dark colored car and talking on the phone. As soon as this photo surfaced, social media users started raising questions about the covering of his phone’s camera.

Business influencer and podcast host Mario Knofal wrote on the social media platform X, “Why did Netanyahu tape over his phone camera? What is he afraid of? If the Israeli prime minister has to do this, what does it mean for ordinary people?”

Following this, discussions on social media intensified regarding the type of phone Netanyahu was using and the reason behind covering the camera. Many attributed it to a security measure, while others linked it to a spying threat. However, there has been no official statement from the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office regarding the photo or the phone.

Some experts and social media users believe that taping cameras may be a common security procedure for Israeli authorities. Grok, an AI chatbot on X, claimed that this red tape may be a standard security protocol used at sensitive government premises, where cameras are covered to prevent accidental or intentional recordings.
