DJ Koo, the husband of late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, has reportedly declined a one-third share of her estate as her family moves toward a settlement with her former husband, Wang Xiaofei.

Developments in the handling of Hsu’s estate have emerged nearly a year after her death, Znews quoted Chinese news outlet 163 as reporting.

DJ Koo has chosen not to accept the portion of assets allocated to him, while Wang and Hsu’s family are nearing the conclusion of negotiations.

After Hsu’s sudden passing in Japan, multiple lawsuits arose between Wang and her family. Earlier this year, sources said the two parties agreed to renegotiate disputes to child support payments and sought to mediate.

Media reports later said Wang and Hsu’s family reached an agreement and are awaiting formal signing. Sources added that DJ Koo is prepared to relinquish his personal share of the inheritance stipulated in Hsu’s will.

Previously, Hsu’s estate was believed to be divided into three parts, with one share allocated to DJ Koo and the remaining two to her son and daughter with Wang Xiaofei. With DJ Koo declining his share, her two children are expected to inherit the entire estate. Until they turn 18, the assets will be managed by their legal guardian Wang.

Hsu died on Feb. 2, 2025, in Tokyo, Japan, at the age of 48. Her family said she died from pneumonia caused by complications from influenza while traveling during the Lunar New Year holiday.

She was a well-known figure in Taiwanese and Asian entertainment, best remembered for her role as Shan Cai in the television series Meteor Garden (2001). The drama’s success helped establish her status as a pop culture icon in the early 2000s.
