Patna. Bihar government has decided to ban the private practice of government doctors with the aim of providing better medical facilities in the rural areas of the state. This step has been taken to realize the goals of accessible health and safe life under the Seven Nishchay-Teen scheme. The government says that this initiative will increase the presence of doctors in government hospitals and improve the quality of services provided to patients.
Committee will be formed to prepare the policy
Before banning private practice, the health department has constituted a six-member committee. This committee will study aspects like availability of doctors, timely treatment of patients, workload and quality of services in government health institutions. Based on this, the committee will submit its report to the government on the practical challenges and solutions to the ban on private practice.
Doctors will get incentives
The government’s objective is that the ban on private practice should not have a negative impact on the morale and income of doctors. A policy of incentives and facilities will be prepared for this. This may include options like additional salary, incentives, preference in promotion, housing facilities, better working environment and availability of modern equipment. A special incentive package is also being considered for doctors working especially in rural and remote areas.
Improvement in hospital services
The implementation of this policy will ensure continuous presence of doctors in government hospitals and will improve the services provided to patients. The government believes that this decision will be in the interest of strengthening the health system and patients.
