Gonda. Another important step has been taken towards strengthening the road infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh. Many long awaited road projects of Gonda district are now going to get new momentum. The state government has released additional funds worth crores of rupees for these projects, which will speed up the construction work and it is expected that the general public will get relief soon.
80% work of Balpur-Kathola-Ashokpur road completed
The widening and strengthening of the 15 km long Balapur-Kathola-Ashokpur road, one of the most important projects for Gonda district, was approved this year. A total of Rs 37.25 crore was sanctioned for this project.
So far, about Rs 29 crore has been released and with the recent receipt of another installment, about 80 percent of the work on this road has been completed. With its widening, movement from rural areas to the city will be easier and accidents are also expected to reduce.
Itiyathok-Srinagar road will also be widened
The government has also sanctioned a huge amount for the widening of the 21 km long Itiyathok-Srinagar road. This road is being widened by seven meters, which will facilitate the movement of heavy vehicles. A total of Rs 72.63 crore was sanctioned for this project. About Rs 26 crore has been released so far. The process of widening is going on on both sides of the road and instructions have been given to speed up the construction work.
Gonda bypass will provide relief to the city
To reduce the increasing traffic pressure in Gonda city, a bypass connecting Balrampur-Gonda road with Gonda-Ayodhya road is also being prepared rapidly. A total of Rs 56.34 crore is being spent on this 11.60 km long bypass. Till now almost half the amount had been released and with the recent receipt of new installment of Rs 10 crore, the construction work will gain momentum. It is estimated that this bypass will be ready by the end of this year.
Regional development will get a boost
The completion of these road projects will greatly benefit not only Gonda but also the surrounding districts. Better roads will reduce travel time, boost trade and agricultural transportation and reduce the problem of traffic jams in cities. According to PWD officials, the department is constantly monitoring the sanctioned projects to ensure completion within the stipulated time frame.
