How much Alex Honnold made from Taipei 101 climb?


Alex Honnold is an American rock climber who made history by climbing the Taipei skyscraper on Sunday, January 25, 2026.


The climber pushed human potential to its extreme as he rose to the top of the 508-meter tower without any safety gear.


The event was live streamed on Netflix titled Skyscraper Live as it took him only one hour, thirty-one minutes, and 43 seconds.


While speaking to the New York TimesAlex said he was not disappointed by the pay check as he would even do it for free.


“I mean, I would do it for free, if the building gave me the permission. I would do the thing because I know I can, and it’d be amazing.”


He did revealed that the amount he was paid ws not as per his agent’s earlier hopes.


“However, the amount paid was less than what my agent aspired to.”


The 40-year-old adventurer did not share the exact amount but when the interviewer mentioned the ball park being $10 million figure, he dismissed it saying “So in that case, yeah – I received an embarrassingly small amount.”


However, a source told the outlet that the climber was being paid mid-six figures.
