Nintendo released trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie during a surprise Nintendo Direct.

The trailer drop confirmed Yoshi’s full debut and the presence of more classic characters.

Another good news for the fans is that Yoshi is shown speaking for the first time in the film.

Yoshi is shown initially fearful of Mario and Luigi before later joining their group.

Yoshi’s appearance in this film seems to be inspired by the post-credits tease from The Super Mario Bros. Movie which showed a green Yoshi egg starting to hatch.

The trailer also includes some action-packed scenes including Mario and Princess Peach infiltrating a lava-filled area resembling Bowser’s Castle.

In another glimpse Luigi rescues Toad from a giant Cheep Cheep while sporting the Frog Suit power-up.

Lakitu also emerges attacking Mario, Luigi and Yoshi from the air.

The group appears to be facing a large dinosaur-like creature similar to the T. rex from Super Mario Odyssey in the trailer’s end.

Nintendo also confirmed that animation on the film has been completed.

Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri said the movie is now in post-production with sound and music still in progress.

Themes from the Super Mario Galaxy games are being re-recorded using a 70-piece orchestra.

No new voice actors were announced. Nintendo did not reveal who is voicing Yoshi.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled for release in cinemas on April 1 aligning with international release schedules.
