Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is going to launch the full version of the new Aadhaar App on 28 January 2026. UIDAI has shared this official information on its social media platform X. According to the authority, many features present in the Aadhaar app currently in use will be fully activated after January 28.

Identity verification process completely digital

The most important thing that UIDAI has told in its post is that after the launch of the full version, people will not need to carry a physical copy of the Aadhaar card. The process of identity verification will become completely digital. During check-in at hotel, guest house, office or any other place, users will be able to do Aadhaar verification from their mobile phones, making the process easier and safer than ever.

Many major changes can be seen in the Aadhaar app with the full version. Till now the use of this app was mainly limited to showing one’s Aadhaar, sharing information through QR code and limited services. But after the new update, users will also be able to check the validity of another person’s Aadhaar through the app. This feature will prove to be very useful especially in those places where identity verification is mandatory.

Till now there was no simple and reliable way to do instant verification by scanning the Aadhaar QR code. This problem may go away after the full version is launched. Hotels, corporate offices and other institutions will be able to verify identity faster through app-based verification, which will save time and also reduce cases of fake identity.

Facility to update important information

Apart from this, UIDAI is also preparing to provide the facility to update some important information in the Aadhaar app. According to reports, in the new version users will be able to update the address in their Aadhaar. There is also a possibility of getting the option to update the mobile number. Currently, the facility to change name and email ID is not available in the app, but these features can also be added with the full version.
