For millions of farmers across India, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme has become a vital financial support system. So far, the government has successfully disbursed 21 installments, and now farmers are eagerly awaiting the 22nd installment, which is expected to reach bank accounts anytime in February 2026.

However, the government has tightened rules this time, and failure to complete certain formalities could result in your ₹2,000 payment being delayed or withheld.

Who Might Face Delays in the 22nd Installment?

The government has made it clear: only farmers with complete and updated documentation will receive the payment. Here are the main reasons why an installment may not be credited:

  • Incomplete e-KYC:
If you haven’t updated your e-KYC, your payment will likely get blocked. Farmers can complete this process either via the PM-Kisan portal using OTP verification or at the nearest Common Service Center (CSC) with biometric authentication.

  • Pending Land Verification (Land Seeding):
Many farmers’ statuses show ‘No’ under Land Seeding, indicating that their land records have not yet been verified in the government database. Without this verification, the installment cannot be processed.

  • Bank Account Not Linked with Aadhaar:
Your bank account must be seeded with Aadhaar, and the DBT option must be active. Even a minor mismatch in names between Aadhaar and bank account details can prevent the payment from being credited.

  • New Farmer ID Requirement:
In 2026, the government introduced a mandatory Farmer ID, a unique digital identity linked to your land records. Farmers without this ID may face delays in receiving the installment.

  • Who Is Ineligible for PM-Kisan Benefits?

The PM-Kisan scheme targets only genuine small and marginal farmers. If you fall under any of these categories, you will not receive the installment:

    • Any family member paying Income Tax.

    • Family members working in government jobs or retired employees (except multi-tasking staff).

    • Farmers receiving a monthly pension exceeding ₹10,000.

    • Professionals like doctors, engineers, or lawyers.

    • Only one person per family can avail of the benefits; both husband and wife cannot claim the scheme.

What to Do if Your Installment Is Pending

If your previous installment hasn’t been credited or you want to check your status:

  • Visit the official website: pmkisan.gov.in.

  • Click on ‘Know Your Status’.

  • Enter your registration number to view the installment status.

  • If the status shows e-KYC, Land Seeding, and Aadhaar-Bank linkage as ‘Yes’ with a green tick, you don’t need to worry.

    • For land verification issues, immediately contact your regional Patwari or Lekhpal.

    • For e-KYC issues, you can complete it from home using the PM-Kisan app with face authentication.

    Key Takeaway

The PM-Kisan scheme aims to provide timely financial support to farmers for seeds, fertilizers, and other agricultural needs. With stricter verification processes in place, following the rules and updating all details is essential. Make sure your documentation is complete so that the 22nd installment in February 2026 lands directly in your bank account without any hassle.
