Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh is adept at wreaking havoc with the new ball. It's rare in T20 Internationals that Arshdeep Singh has wielded the new ball without taking a wicket. Arshdeep also bowled brilliantly in the India-New Zealand T20 International in Nagpur. He took wickets with the new ball and put pressure on the New Zealand batsmen early on, which played a crucial role in India's victory. Arshdeep Singh created a major record by taking a wicket in his very first over, breaking the record held by Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi.
Arshdeep Singh took 1 wicket for 31 runs in his four overs. He dismissed Devon Conway in the very first over of the innings, breaking a major record in T20 cricket. Arshdeep Singh has now become the bowler with the most wickets in the first two overs of T20 International cricket. He has taken 28 wickets in 67 innings. Previously, this record was jointly held by Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and UAE's Junaid Siddiqui, who took 27 wickets each in 87 and 75 innings, respectively. This was the 12th time Arshdeep took a wicket in the first over of an innings. However, he currently ranks 10th in the T20 format in this regard.
Arshdeep Singh is India's leading wicket-taker
in this format. He has taken 111 wickets in 73 matches so far. He became the first bowler to take a century of wickets for India in T20 International cricket. He achieved this feat in 2025, after which Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya joined this club. Arshdeep Singh has been one of India's biggest match-winners in this format.
