David Luiz was back at Chelsea on Wednesday night and the ex-Blue paid tribute to one of the club's long-time employees by handing him a signed shirt after the game.

The Brazilian spent two separate spells at Stamford Bridge, winning the Premier League in his second stint. Now he's seeing out his career with Pafos, but was back in west London as the two sides squared off in the Champions League. The English side running out narrow winners.

Luiz failed to get off the bench but gave his No.4 shirt, accompanied with a hand written message, to Brian Pullman, who has been welcoming the media to Stamford Bridge for more than 56 years.

Pullman is a beloved figure at the club and left his mark on a number of individuals. Luiz is the second visiting person to take time out and recognise the club's long-time employee. The other being Jose Mourinho when he returned as manager of Benfica.

Pullman worked at Chelsea for an incredible 56 years and retired in 2024 and the Special One remembered the contribution he made. Mourinho smiled when he saw the veteran employee and asked "where are my favourite biscuits?" Pullman then revealed that he had half a dozen custard creams.

Chelsea's win over Pafos ensured they leapt up into the top eight on the Champions League standings, which puts them in pole position to land one of the spots in the last 16, avoiding the dangerous play-off stage.

Moises Caicedo came up with a second-half winner to see off the minnows from Cyprus and new boss Liam Rosenior believes he's working with the best player in the world in his position. “I said before for me, he’s the best defensive midfield player in the world right now," claimed the Blues head coach.

"So he’s a joy to work with, not just his in possession, his whole possession, the way he blocks passing lines, and he makes players around him better. I don’t know how many headers he scored in his career, but it was a fantastic header and a really, really important moment in the game with a player like him.”

Chelsea will face a much greater challenge next week, when they will hope to complete their path into the knockouts. They travel to Napoli to take on the Italian champions, who are led by their former boss Antonio Conte.
