New Delhi: Days after a techie drowned after his SUV fell into a water-filled pit dug for construction, police on Tuesday arrested a builder in connection with the case. He was later sent to one day of custody.
The accused has been identified as Abhay Kumar Singh, owner of MZ Wishtown. He was arrested by police from Knowledge Park police station. The arrest was made after an FIR was filed against him on a complaint by the victim’s father, Rajkumar Mehta.
FIR names two buildersThe FIR names two builders, MZ Wishtown and Lotus Green, in connection with the incident. A junior engineer of the Noida Authority has also been suspended.
The incident occurred in Sector 150, Noida, where the 27-year-old engineer died after his vehicle fell into a water-filled pit at a construction site. The Uttar Pradesh government has formed a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case. The SIT members conducted an on-site inspection on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, teams from the National Disaster Response Force and divers resumed search operations on Tuesday afternoon to locate the victim’s vehicle. After nearly three hours, the car was traced and it was later retrieved. The vehicle was lodged between two basement levels.
