Nearly half of Britons would share a toothbrush - yet one in five admit they'd never confess to it publicly. New research has uncovered the unexpected items people are, and aren't, prepared to lend to others.
Over half refuse to share razors, 46% won't share deodorant and 20% consider skincare completely off-limits.
Regarding technology, more than a third of the 2,000 Britons surveyed wouldn't share earphones. 'The Share Index' research, commissioned by Vodafone and Three, marks the fact that their customers can now access each other's networks automatically.
The findings revealed that despite sharing a home, three in ten couples wouldn't allow their partner to use their phone charger. Over a quarter confess to experiencing genuine anger when personal belongings are borrowed without permission.
Whilst food may unite people, it seems dessert is driving them apart. More than a third acknowledge they wouldn't share pudding with a partner, even during date night.
Vodafone and Three joined forces with actor James Buckley and podcast co-host Clair Buckley to discuss and provide their perspective on the nation's sharing behaviours. James said: "I'm not normally very relaxed about sharing but I do like sharing music with Clair, it's one of the reasons we got together.
"Sharing can often make life better, so now Vodafone and Three have combined their network I don't even have to think about it - the sharing's automatic."
Clair revealed: "James will use anyone's earphones without a second thought, but I won't use his. It turns out we're all weirdly particular about different things, from tech to food. Seeing what the nation said they'd share was a lot of fun, especially when it came to sharing deodorant."
A VodafoneThree spokesperson commented: "Our research shows while some things are strictly off-limits for Brits to share, others are simply better when shared - like our networks."
