Jemimah Rodrigues really stepped up when it counted, playing a composed and responsible innings that led the Delhi Capitals to a vital seven-wicket victory over the Mumbai Indians in the Women’s Premier League on Tuesday. Facing a challenging target, Jemimah anchored the innings and scored an unbeaten fifty, helping Delhi cross the finish line with an over to spare.
After being asked to bat first on a sluggish pitch, the Mumbai Indians struggled right from the start during the powerplay. Nat Sciver-Brunt shone for them, scoring an impressive 66 not out off 45 balls, which helped lift Mumbai to a total of 154 for 5.
Delhi's chase got off to a promising start with Lizelle Lee (46 off 28) and Shafali Verma (29 off 24) providing a solid foundation. However, a flurry of quick wickets in the middle overs put Delhi under pressure until Jemimah (51 not out off 37) steadied the ship and saw them through.
Veteran all-rounder Marizanne Kapp supported Jemimah at the end, contributing 10 not out off six balls and sealing the win with a six. This victory marked Delhi Capitals’ second win in five matches, while the Mumbai Indians faced their fourth defeat in six games.

Kapp’s Spell, Sciver-Brunt’s Fifty Highlight Low-Scoring Clash
Earlier in the innings, Shafali Verma was bowled while attempting a sweep against left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma. Lizelle Lee, who has been in fantastic form this season, was later given out stumped off Amanjot Kaur after losing her balance.
Despite Hayley Matthews returning from injury, Mumbai’s opening pair once again struggled to make an impact, with both Matthews and Sajeevan Sajana dismissed cheaply.
For Delhi, Marizanne Kapp was exceptional with the ball, conceding just eight runs in her four overs and also taking the wicket of Matthews. Mumbai relied heavily on the experienced duo of Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet, who managed to score 41 off 33 balls.
Sciver-Brunt had a fantastic innings, hitting six fours and two sixes, which marked her third score of over fifty this season. Unfortunately, aside from her impressive performance, the rest of Mumbai's batting lineup struggled to make an impact. Since this was only the second match at the venue, batting proved to be quite tough, especially when compared to the higher-scoring games we've seen in Navi Mumbai.
