News India Live, Digital Desk: Today’s corporate lifestyle has become such that we get “stress” (tension) as a bonus along with the office salary. Mountains of work, pressure of deadlines and on top of that the expectations of the boss – sometimes it seems that a human has become a machine. We complete our work but destroy our mental health.

If you too feel more irritable than tired while returning home every evening, then you need to stop now and be careful. Today I will not give you any bookish knowledge, but will tell you 4 practical methods which are really useful in lightening the heavy burden of office.

1. Learn to say ‘no’ and create boundaries
We Indians feel very shy in saying ‘no’. We think that if we refuse, the boss will get angry. But the truth is that if your plate is already full, there is no point in serving more. If there is too much work, politely tell your manager, “I’m on this project right now, taking on new work might hurt the quality.” Set your boundaries. Keep office work to the office, don’t bring it to the dinner table at home.

2. A ‘To-Do List’ is your biggest weapon.
When a lot of work appears at once, it causes anxiety. As soon as you reach office in the morning, first of all take a diary and divide the work into three parts:

  • Most important: Which has to be done today under any circumstances.

  • medium: Which may happen if not today or tomorrow.

  • Less important: Which we will do later in our free time.
Focus on one task at a time (avoid multitasking). As the list gets ticked, your stress level will automatically come down.

3. Don’t be a robot, take short breaks
By remaining glued to the chair for 4-5 hours continuously, productivity does not increase but rather decreases. Take a short break of 5 minutes every one or two hours. Get up from your seat, drink water, have a laugh with a co-worker for two minutes, or just look out the window. This little “reset” button refreshes your mind and allows you to do your work better.

4. Keep your desk clean, your mind will remain calm
You may find this strange, but it is true. If there are piles of files, old coffee cups and scattered papers on your table, just looking at them will make you stressed. ‘Disorganized desk’ means ‘disorganized mind’. Keep your place clean. Working while sitting at a clean desk provides a different positive energy and reduces the workload.

Remember: Work is a part of life, not the whole life. Therefore, do not compromise with your health and peace. Try these methods today!
