Birthday Celebration : A heartbreaking road accident on the old Ahmedabad Highway in Udaipur claimed the lives of four young friends and left six others seriously injured, turning what was meant to be a joyful birthday celebration into a scene of devastation. The incident occurred on Saturday near Nela Talab in the Savina area and has once again raised serious concerns about road safety, over-speeding, and reckless driving among youngsters.
According to local authorities, the tragic collision involved two cars and happened late in the evening when a group of friends was heading out to celebrate a birthday. All four victims were residents of Udaipur and were reportedly going out for tea after attending a religious gathering. The sudden crash shocked nearby residents and passersby, many of whom rushed to the spot after hearing cries for help.
The impact of the collision was so severe that four teenagers lost their lives on the spot, while others suffered critical injuries. The accident site quickly turned chaotic as locals tried to assist the injured before emergency services arrived.
The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ayan, aged 17, Adil Qureshi, aged 14, Sher Mohammad, aged 19, and Ghulam Khwaja, aged 17. Two other friends traveling in the same vehicle, Wasim, aged 20, and Mohammed Kaif, aged 19, sustained serious injuries. They were immediately rushed to MB Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment under close medical supervision.
In the second car involved in the crash, four occupants also suffered injuries. This vehicle carried a Gujarat registration number and was reportedly traveling from Rajgarh in Churu district towards Vapi in Gujarat. All injured passengers from the second car were admitted to the hospital and are said to be in stable condition.
One of the most disturbing aspects of this tragic event is a video that surfaced after the accident. The footage was recorded moments before the crash and shows Sher Mohammad driving the car at an extremely high speed. Initially, the speedometer indicated a speed between 100 and 120 kilometers per hour, which later surged to nearly 140 kilometers per hour.
The video lasts just over a minute, and within one minute and ten seconds of recording, the car meets with the fatal accident. In the background, one of the friends can be heard pleading with the driver to slow down. Unfortunately, the warning went unheeded, and what began as a cheerful ride ended in tragedy.
After the collision, survivors reportedly cried out for help for nearly ten minutes. Due to the intensity of the crash and the condition of the victims, immediate assistance was difficult. By the time local residents reached the scene and informed authorities, four youths had already succumbed to their injuries.
Police officials stated that the group of six friends in the first car had attended a Mehfil-e-Milad program earlier in the day. Following the event, they decided to go out for tea via the highway. It was during this journey that their vehicle was struck by the second car, resulting in the fatal accident.
Law enforcement agencies have launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Both vehicles involved in the crash have been seized for further examination, and forensic teams are analyzing the scene to determine the exact cause of the collision. Preliminary findings strongly indicate over-speeding as a major contributing factor.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the mortuary of MB Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Authorities have assured the families that all necessary legal procedures will be followed and that responsibility will be fixed after the completion of the investigation.
This tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the importance of responsible behavior on the road. Over-speeding, especially among young drivers, continues to be a leading cause of fatal accidents. A single moment of negligence can result in irreversible loss, as seen in this heartbreaking case.
Families, educators, and authorities must work together to spread awareness about traffic rules and safe driving practices. Celebrations and moments of happiness should never come at the cost of human lives.
