Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina has turned to social media to poke fun at the controversial decision not to award Arsenal a penalty during their goalless Premier League draw at the City Ground. In the dying moments of the match, Aina was at the centre of a handball incident inside Forest's penalty box.

The full-back seemed to guide the ball with his arm close to the touchline, preventing it from going out for a corner. Despite vocal protests from Arsenal's players, referee Michael Oliver waved away their appeals.

VAR official Darren England subsequently examined the incident before determining that the ball had "played off Aina's shoulder first" and that his arm was in a "natural position". "We came here to win the game and we haven't managed to do that for different reasons," Mikel Arteta commented afterwards.

"It's a credit to them because they are really well organised and they are really good at breaking momentum when you have certain dominance in the game. But the players had four massive challenges as well, with Martinelli on open goal, Declan Rice attacking, Mikel and the header of Bukayo. And on top of that, obviously, a very clear penalty in the box that has not been given.

"So, without conceding a single shot on target, again, the fact that we haven't won the game is disappointing. And on top of that, I think we can do things better in certain attacking areas.

Arteta has challenged the reasoning behind the decision not to award a penalty, arguing that the player's arm movement was intentional. "The explanation is not right," he stated.

"The rest, the order [of what it hits] is ok, the timing and the intention of the player is very clear. If not, I wouldn't be sitting here saying in my opinion, it's a very clear penalty."

On Sunday, Aina shared his thoughts on the draw with Forest on social media. "Loved being back at the city ground in front of our fans," he penned alongside several snapshots from the match. Interestingly, one of the images he initially posted but later removed was a screenshot of the controversial incident, seemingly showing him using his arm to control the ball.

Aina also uploaded a photo of wrestler Eddie Guerro and paired it with the audio from his entrance theme 'Viva La Raza'. The 2016 track features the lyrics "I lie, I cheat, I steal".

Manchester City's Antoine Semenyo was quick to respond to Aina's post, commenting with four laughing face emojis and the word 'nostalgia. Forest boss Sean Dyche expressed his views to TNT Sports: "I think if these start to get given we've all got to leave it. I think that's ridiculous.

"We've got to be careful with those. If you're going to give that [as handball], you may as well cancel football. The rules have to be careful. You know what they should be looking at? People feigning injury. That's the new diving."
