Winter lovers will be pleased to hear that the end of the month will be a bonechilling one with vast swathes of the country set to be buried in snow. Blizzards spanning 713 miles from Kirkwall to London will soon make their mark on the country.

New WXCHARTS snow weather maps have turned purple and white, indicating that heavy snowfall is on its way. The worst-hit areas are on track to be buried under a massive 72cm blizzard with wintry conditions pushing south across Scotland before spreading across almost the entirety of Britain. A whopping 23 cities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland look set to be impacted by the heavy snow.

At midday on Saturday January 31 snow depths in the Scottish Highlands and Argyll and Bute will have hit a brutal 20cm.

It will be even worse for those in Perth and Kinross and Stirling where snow depths are forecast to hit 30cm.

Birmingham and Manchester, key cities in the North West of England and West Midlands are expected to see 5mm of snow fall per hour.

Swansea will be the hardest hit city in Wales with 3mm of snow predicted to fall every hour. The snow will fall as far south as Somerset who will see a flurry of snowflakes.

By midday on Sunday February 1, the snow looks set to only intensify further and spread to cover London.

Perth and Kinross will be the worst hit area in the UK with a whopping 72cm of snow expected. Stirling will also be buried with 39cm of snow forecast, whilst Angus will see around 28cm of snow falling.

In England Durham will be buried by 25cm of snow whilst Northumberland will see around 17cm. Snow depths will hover between 11cm to 12cm in North Wales, the rest of Wales will snow depths reach between 7cm to 8cm.

Somerset will hit 8cm in Somerset, London will see slightly less with 2cm of snow forecast.
