Daryl Mitchell has been the new slaughter for the Indians, having four centuries against India. The last two came in the ongoing three-match ODI series against India. At Rajkot, it was his 131 not out along with Will Young, who took New Zealand beyond the margin and leveled the series. Today, at Indore, he scored 137 runs, after coming to bat when the Kiwis were struggling at 5 for 2.
After losing the two openers early, he had a 53-run third-wicket partnership with Will Young that got the guests in shape. Mitchell got his century with a single in the 36th over, off 107 deliveries. His innings includes 15 boundaries and three sixes. Its him and Glenn Phillips who took New Zealand to 337, despite loosing wickets quickly after their departure. 1 | Record-Breaking ODI Series vs India
Mitchell produced a historic run-fest against India, finishing the three-match bilateral ODI series with 352 runs. His scores of 84 in the first ODI, an unbeaten 131 in the second, and 137 in the third now stand as the highest aggregate by any batter against India in a three-match ODI series. In the process, he went past Quinton de Kock’s long-standing mark of 342 runs, set in 2013. Not only that, he stands third in the list of batters to score most runs in any three match ODI series.
2 | Historic Partnership on Indian Soil
The New Zealand batter also played a pivotal role in scripting the country’s biggest partnership against India in India. Alongside Glenn Phillips, he stitched together a massive 219-run stand for the fourth wicket. This surpassed the previous New Zealand record of 200 runs, shared by Tom Latham and Ross Taylor in Mumbai in 2017.
3 | A First for New Zealand
Mitchell’s century, coupled with Phillips’ 106 in the same innings, marked a landmark moment. It was the first time two New Zealand batters registered hundreds in a single ODI innings against India.

His four ODI centuries in India have now drawn him level with Nathan Astle for the most hundreds by a New Zealand batter on Indian soil. Only AB de Villiers, with five, has more ODI centuries in India among visiting players.
6 | Ahead of the Legends
With four hundreds against India in India, Mitchell has now outdone several all-time greats. He has more ODI centuries on Indian soil than legends like Ricky Ponting and Viv Richards managed during their careers.
