AR Rahman responded to criticism, expressed respect for India


Mumbai: Famous signatures of music by A.R. Rehman has recently broken his silence amid the ongoing controversies on social media. He clarified in a video message that his intention was never to hurt anyone’s sentiments. Rahman said that his statements and views are sometimes misunderstood.


In the video, Rahman expressed his deep feelings towards India. He said that India is not only his country, but it is also his guru and home. Music has always been a medium for him to connect with and understand Indian culture. He also clarified that his intentions are always to uplift and serve.


Serving the country through music


A.R. Through his career, Rahman has shown how he has used music to take the country forward. He proudly said that he is proud to be an Indian because this country respects freedom of expression. Through various projects he emphasized his contribution towards the upliftment of the society.


Composing music for Ramayana is an honor


Rahman mentioned that it is a matter of pride for him to compose music for ‘Ramayana’. Working with international musician Hans Zimmer on this project makes the experience even more special. According to him, such opportunities further strengthen his cause.


He also informed that he is working with young Naga musicians and is involved in activities like forming a string orchestra. Mentioning ‘Secret Mountain’, India’s first multicultural virtual band, he shared their collective efforts.

At the end of his video, Rahman shared footage of a stadium where thousands of people were singing his song “Maa Tujhe Salaam Vande Mataram”. Through this scene he showed that his music always works to unite and honor the country. Rahman said that he is grateful to this country and will remain committed to making music that honors the past.
