Back in 2018, Sir Brian May produced the Freddie Mercury Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Despite lacklustre reviews, the film almost grossed $1 billion worldwide and won more Oscars than any other movie that year, including Best Actor for Rami Malek.

A number of rock star biopics have followed suit to varying degrees of success, and now it's The Beatles' turn.

The Fab Four's estates have hired Sir Sam Mendes to direct four back-to-back movies about each member of the band that will all be released in cinemas in April 2028.

In a recent interview, Sir Brian was asked what he thought of the same formula being used for the four members of Queen.

Speaking with the Daily Mail, the guitar legend replied: "No, I would dread it if that happened to Queen. I love the Beatles, the Beatles are like the Bible. But four films, I feel like it's a horrible kind of thing where it's a competition between them, that can be pretty invidious. I'm happy with the film we made about Freddie, for now, I don't need any more than that. I feel very proud that we did it for Freddie, not for us, it made it right for us, it was the right thing for us."
