The AI company plans to open its Bengaluru office in February.

Ghose has been in the technology sector for over 30 years, with her most recent stint being as managing director of Microsoft India, where she led enterprise AI adoption across industries such as BFSI, manufacturing, healthcare, technology services, and government. She has held leadership roles across sales, enterprise solutions, education, and go-to-market strategy.


“Indian organisations are moving beyond experimentation toward applied AI, where trust, safety, and long-term impact matter as much as innovation. Anthropic’s mission resonates with my belief that technology should empower people, expand access, and create lasting value across India’s diverse languages and communities,” Ghose said in a statement.

The company also announced that CEO Dario Amodei and other senior executives will be attending the India AI Impact Summit being organised by the government in February, followed by the official opening of the company’s India headquarters in Bengaluru.

Last year, Anthropic had revealed plans to open an office in India and hire for multiple roles. The large language model (LLM) startup also plans to partner with conglomerates, healthcare institutions, education organisations and startup accelerators to develop locally relevant AI applications in India.

Senior executive Peter McCrory told ET in an interview that India ranks second globally in overall Claude.ai usage, with nearly half of all activity driven by work-related tasks. Anthropic's largest market is the US.

CEO Amodei, during his visit to India last October, had explained India's key position in the AI landscape. “There is deep alignment between the challenges India is tackling and our mission as a company, from deploying AI across diverse languages and contexts to building frameworks for responsible governance. India's AI ecosystem will play a central role in how AI develops globally and democratically," he said.

Rivals OpenAI and Perplexity are also making their way to India, with plans to open offices and hire for roles across the sales, tech and product functions.
