A teenager studying in class eight died while bathing. After breaking the bathroom door, his relatives took him to the doctor, where death was confirmed. The relative told that the geyser was switched off and the child was not facing any kind of problem.

There is a possibility of death due to heart failure. The relatives performed the last rites of the child without conducting post-mortem.

Rahul Verma, resident of Atal Park Mohalla of Sadar Kotwali area, is a businessman. His 13-and-a-half-year-old son Sarthak Verma was a class eight student at Scottish International School. Rahul told that on Sunday morning the son had gone to the bathroom to take bath.

After about 10 minutes, his elder sister knocked the door and asked him to come out quickly, but no sound came from inside. He informed his relatives on this. He also called Sarthak, but there was no movement. Fearing something untoward, the relative broke the door. Sarthak was lying unconscious inside.

The relatives first took him to a private doctor, where Sarthak was declared dead. After this he took him to Ayushman Hospital, here too the child was declared dead. After this, the family members came home and cremated the teenager without conducting post-mortem.

Rahul told that there was a geyser installed in the bathroom, but when the son had gone to take a bath, it was switched off. The hot water bucket was already full, so the geyser was not turned on. In such a situation, death cannot occur due to suffocation due to gas. He expressed apprehension that there might have been a sudden heart failure, due to which the son died.

Many times symptoms are ignored: Dr. Pankaj Garg

Senior physician Dr. Pankaj Garg said that many times while running the geyser, others open the tap, due to which the geyser stops, but the gas continues to flow. This gas gets inhaled through breath, which causes death.

The geyser here was switched off, so it is possible that he may have had heart failure. However, some symptoms are definitely felt before this. Like nervousness, dizziness, shortness of breath, chest pain etc. Children do not pay attention to this and things get out of hand. The correct information would have come out only after the post-mortem, but the family did not get it done.
