The Princess of Wales was a vision in red today as she welcomed England's Women's Rugby Team to Windsor Castle for a reception to celebrate their World Cup victory last year.

In her role as Patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU), Princess Catherine was delighted to welcome the team to mark their achievement, which saw them secure a 33-13 win over Canada in September. Before they met the Princess, the Red Roses and members of the team's staff were given a tour of the Castle. One of the highlights of the reception was the moment the group showed the Princess the Rugby World Cup.

Although she missed the team's triumph against Canada last year, Catherine shared a message on social media before the Red Roses stormed to victory.

The Princess wrote at the time: "Good luck England! Wishing the very best of luck to the @redrosesrugby in their Women's Rugby World Cup Final at Twickenham today. We're so proud of you! C".

Alongside the personal message, the Princess shared a photograph of herself posing alongside players Megan Jones, Ellie Kildunne and Jess Breach.

While two of the players could be seen wearing white cowboy hats featuring the team's signature red rose, Catherine opted to wear a red cowboy hat with a tiara-like design across the front.

Catherine became the new patron of the Rugby Football Union in 2022, after Prince Harry was forced to give up the position as part of the 'Megxit' deal.

While the Princess is the patron of the RFU, Prince William is the Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, which often results in a friendly rivalry between the couple whenever the two teams play one another.

Passing on their love of the sport, the couple were joined by Prince George at the Six Nations in 2022 and in 2023.

Their younger two children also seem to be fans, as the Princess previously shared which sports Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis enjoy playing at school.

When she was announced as the new Patron of the RFU at Twickenham Stadium back in 2022, Catherine said: "Now that there is a move towards co-ed sport, so it's not just girls playing netball, but other sports like rugby, which is great. They're all enjoying it, Louis is kamikaze, we're worrying about when he gets older, he'll be in the middle of everything."
