India's premier fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah shared some very pleasant moments with his little one Angad in the training session before New Zealand's T20I series. The Indian team is set to host the Kiwis for five T20I matches starting from Wednesday, January 21.
Bumrah's pre-practice warming up had his son chasing him around in mirth. After that, he bowled in public nets, perfecting his T20I skills. Angad cutely picked up the ball and threw it at the wickets while he was attempting to bowl. Bumrah was showing him the fundamentals of bowling, but the toddler was only releasing the ball after he had come quite close to the stumps at the batter's end.
The happy child unambiguously had fun with his dad while he was training. Bumrah passed up the New Zealand ODI series and would rejoin for the T20s. It was decided by the team management to control his load and have him ready for the T20 World Cup 2026, which is to start in February, so he would be fresh.

India participates in the tournament as the reigning champions and requests that their top fast bowler be in perfect condition for the big event. Bumrah was an important factor in India's success in the 2024 title run and will be expected to pitch in again.
When it comes to formats, Bumrah is still the most important player for India, particularly in T20Is. He started his T20I career against Australia in 2016. Up to now, this experienced fast bowler has 83 T20I matches to his name and has bagged 103 wickets at a very good average of 18.17 and a pretty economical rate of 6.39, with the best of 3/7.

His figures against New Zealand in the format also seem impressive. He has taken 12 wickets in 10 matches at an average of 19.33 and an economy rate of 6.10 with the maximum of 3/12 being his best.
On top of that, Bumrah has always put up reliable performances at the home grounds in T20Is. He has a total of 32 wickets in those 32 matches, with an average of 22.68 and an economy of 6.80, where his best is 3/14. These stats not only indicate his effectiveness as a bowler but also show that his contribution to the T20I team of India is very large.
