British tennis superstar Emma Raducanu has signed up for Queen's this summer as part of her preparation for Wimbledon. The women's event returned to west London last year for the first time in 52 years, with the event won by Germany's Tatjana Maria.
Raducanu reached the quarter-final - losing to China's Zheng Qinwen - before reaching the third round at SW19 several weeks later. The 23-year-old is continuing to build momentum under coach Francisco Roig and recorded her first victory of the year on Wednesday by winning a rain-delayed match in Hobart against Camila Osorio.
The British No.1 will play Australia's Taylah Preston in the quarter-final on Thursday after Magdalena Frech withdrew before their last-16 encounter. Raducanu will be looking for her first title since the 2022 US Open as she gears up for the opening Grand Slam of the year in Melbourne.
And the Brit has already made a decision for the summer grass court season after choosing to sign up again for Queens. The tennis star will lead the British challenge in the women's WTA 500 event, which takes place from Monday, June 8 until Sunday, June 21.
The event is scheduled to begin just two days after the women's final at Roland Garros - a tournament which Raducanu reached the second round in last year.
Her immediate focus will be in Hobart, though, after beating world No.82 Osorio. Speaking post-match, she said: "These ones mean so much more. It's such a fine line between winning and losing a match like that.
"It can easily affect your whole mood, your whole days, your whole weeks. I try not to let that happen - but it's very difficult. This is a very good day to stack up.
"It was a very difficult match. We played under all conditions and coming on, coming off a few times, it was really difficult. I'm just really pleased with how I came out and turned it around and then stuck in during the tie-break."
It was confirmed on Wednesday that Raducanu will be seeded for Thursday's Australian Open draw. Raducanu began her 2026 season at the United Cup - pulling out of her first match against Naomi Osaka before losing to Maria Sakkari as Team GB crashed out in the group stages.
Assessing her chances down under in an interview with TNT Sports, Team GB captain Tim Henman said: "When I think about Emma Raducanu and her progress from the end of last year into this year, she's moving in the right direction, but she's had this problem with her foot.
"To see her out on the match court is exciting. She just played one match at United Cup and I think performed well against Sakkari, but Sakkari played very, very well.
"Raducanu is in Hobart now. So I just want her to build that physical resilience. To me, there's no question about her tennis ability. So if she builds her fitness, I would like to see her in the second week of the Australian Open. I think that's realistic.
"She, hopefully, is going to be seeded. She's been around No.29 in the world, so that gives her a little bit of protection.
"But could she win three matches in Melbourne? Definitely. I think if I could sign a contract and she was through to the round of 16, I think that would be a great start to the year."
