India Vs New Zealand 2nd ODI: The second ODI match between India and New Zealand will be played today at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. The new Rajkot stadium has so far hosted only four ODI matches and in all four, no team has been able to win by chasing runs. Apart from this, it happened three times in these four matches that the team batting first scored more than 300 runs. This indicates that the pitch here is quite favorable for the batsmen.

The first ODI match was played in Rajkot on 11 January 2013. In that match, England, batting first, scored 325/4, in response to which India could only score 316/9 runs. This record shows that batting gets help here and scoring runs is easy.

Team India won the first ODI

The first match of the series was played at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara, India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the first ODI. India is leading 0-1 in the series. The third ODI of the series will be played in Indore.

How is the Rajkot pitch?

The pitch at Niranjan Shah Stadium is generally flat and batting-friendly. The ball comes easily to the bat, making it easier for the batsmen to play big shots. This proves challenging for fast bowlers as there is less seam movement and bounce. Spin bowlers may get some help in the middle overs, but overall this track remains in favor of the batsmen. This is the reason why high-scoring matches are often seen in Rajkot.

Record of four ODI matches played so far in Rajkot Stadium:

  • 2023: Australia beats India by 66 runs.

  • 2020: India defeated Australia by 36 runs.
