PM Modi: In a special letter on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished the people of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka a happy Makar Sankranti.

The harvest festival that highlights the diversity of customs is Makar Sankranti, also known as Magh Bihu or Pongal in certain regions of the nation.

These celebrations honor the natural world, cultural variety, and communal peace. These celerations represent seasonal change and have their roots in agrarian culture.

“I extend my warmest greetings to you and your family on the auspicious occasion of Sankranti,” PM Modi said in his letter. Sankranti is a time of optimism and hope when the sun’s movement heralds fresh beginnings.

The Prime Minister said that the event “reflects the richness of our cultural landscape and reminds us of the spirit of togetherness that binds us all.” It is observed nationwide in various ways but with the same fervor.Our farmers and their families also have a particular place in their hearts for this celebration. It’s about giving thanks to those who support us, which will make our society stronger,” he remarked.The Prime Minister said, “May this year be full of prosperity, positivity, and good health. May there be happiness in your home, success in all your endeavors, and harmony in society. Sankranti encourages us to look ahead with confidence and optimism.”

In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Makar Sankranti is called Pedda Panduga; in Karnataka, it is called Suggi Habba.

PM Modi also sent warm wishes for success and prosperity to all of his fellow citizens on Makar Sankranti earlier in the day.
