Ahmedabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz participated in the International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront, where kites bearing photographs of the two leaders, flags of strategic partner countries and images of Hindu deities were displayed. During this, PM Modi and German Chancellor Merz paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz visited Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad on Monday morning and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Sabarmati Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram, was established by Mahatma Gandhi in 1917. It was Gandhiji’s home from 1917 to 1930 and one of the main centers of India’s freedom struggle. After paying homage to the Father of the Nation at the historic ashram, the two leaders reached the Sabarmati Riverfront to inaugurate the International Kite Festival. This will be followed by bilateral meetings at the Mahatma Mandir Convention Center in Gandhinagar, where the two leaders will review the progress made in the India-Germany strategic partnership, which recently completed 25 years.


Let us tell you that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz reached India on Monday on his first official visit and met Prime Minister Modi. New Delhi and Berlin want to deepen cooperation in strategic, economic and security areas. Merz landed at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on Sunday night at the start of a two-day visit, undertaken at the invitation of PM Modi.
