Tezzbuzz Desk- There have been reports of change in the venues of Bangladesh matches regarding the organization of T20 World Cup 2026. According to the schedule fixed till now, all the group matches of Bangladesh were to be held in Kolkata and Mumbai. But recently there are reports that BCCI has decided to shift the matches to the cities of South India. There is a possibility that now these matches can be held in Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had sent an email to ICC demanding to change the venue of its matches. The main reason behind this was security. The recent controversies and protests against Bangladeshi players have made them cautious about playing in India.
In fact, recently BCCI had expelled Bangladeshi player Mustafizur Rahman from IPL in protest against violence and killings against Hindus in Bangladesh. Considering this as an unfair action against its players, BCB demanded ICC to shift the venue out of India.
According to a report, there is little possibility of Bangladesh matches being shifted to Sri Lanka. Instead, it is more likely that the matches will be held in the southern cities of India. This means that the group matches will now be held in Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram instead of Kolkata and Mumbai.
The T20 World Cup 2026 is scheduled to start from February 7, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. At present, the final decision on the schedule will be announced soon by ICC and BCCI.
