PM Modi: At the Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar on Monday, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Prime Minister Narendra Modi met at the delegation level with an emphasis on strengthening collaboration in a number of areas.
In an effort to improve bilateral ties between Germany and India, Chancellor Merz landed in India early on Monday.
The recent 25th anniversary of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership is scheduled to have been discussed by the two leaders.
Along with expanding cooperation in key areas of defense and security, science, innovation and research, green and sustainable development, and people-to-people ties, their conversation also centered on further stepping up cooperation in trade and investment, technology, education, skilling, and mobility.
PM Modi and German Chancellor Merz took part in the annual International Kite Festival at the Sabarmati Riverfront earlier in the day, taking in its vibrant culture, color, and vitality.
When PM Modi and Chancellor Merz arrived at the location, they were greeted warmly and given traditional Gujarati scarves.
To welcome the visiting German leader and commemorate the event, artists and performers from around the state performed folk songs and traditional dances, creating a joyous mood.
Later, both leaders were completely involved in the festivities by flying kites to join the festivities.
‘Bharat — Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, which reflects India’s belief that the world is one family, was displayed on a specially made kite flown by the prime minister. Additionally, several kites had themes of both leaders, Hindu deities, and the tricolor.
To see the two leaders, sizable crowds gathered along the riverbank. Numerous people were seen flying the German and Indian flags, demonstrating the two nations’ enduring friendship and expanding alliance.
PM Modi and Chancellor Merz spent the occasion interacting with some of the foreign attendees who had traveled to Gujarat to participate in the festival.
The significance of the decorations, traditions, and rituals connected to the colorful Uttarayan festivities was also explained by the Prime Minister to the German Chancellor, emphasizing the festival’s cultural significance in Gujarat.
In honor of Mahatma Gandhi, PM Modi and Chancellor Merz also went to the Sabarmati Ashram, where they saw an exhibition highlighting Gandhi’s life and legacy. His comments were also noted in the visitors’ book by the German Chancellor.
