DA Hike : There is a comforting news for the government employees working in the government service at the beginning of the new year. Last year has been very special for government employees.


Last year government employees got the gift of 8th Pay Commission. The Eighth Pay Commission Committee was formed last year and the work for the new commission has been started from this committee.



Moreover, last year the government employees got a total increase of five percent dearness allowance. In the first half of the year, two percent and three percent in the second half, a total of five percent increase in dearness allowance was received last year.


Meanwhile, even before the implementation of the new Eighth Pay Commission, once again there has been good news regarding the increase in Dearness Allowance. In fact, government employees will continue to get the benefit of dearness allowance hike under the current 7th Pay Commission till the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission.


An estimate is now coming out that the dearness allowance of government employees will increase by five percent from January 2026. That means dearness allowance of government employees will go directly to 63 percent even before the implementation of the new pay commission.


At present the status quo is that Central Government employees are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 58% but if five per cent increase in dearness allowance is approved this time, this dearness allowance will be 63%.


Big relief to government employees and pensioners


The Union Ministry of Labor and Employment has announced the indices of AICPI-IW for November 2025. In fact, the dearness allowance increase which will be implemented from January 2026 will be as per the data of AICPI from July 2025 to December 2025. So far, the AICPI data for the month of November has been released.


This index for the month of November has been recorded at 148.2 points. Now in the month of December, if the same index continues, DA will directly increase by five percent. However, the final decision will be taken only after the December data comes out.


Last time, dearness allowance of central government employees was increased by three percent. Last time, DA increased from 55 percent to 58 percent and now it will go directly to 63 percent from January 2026.


How much will the salary increase?


Let’s say if the dearness allowance is increased by five percent this time, the monthly salary of an employee whose minimum basic salary is Rs 18,000 will increase by Rs 900. Of course, the said employee will get ten thousand eight hundred rupees extra in one year.
