Uttarakhand News: A two-day Malta Festival was organized at ITBP Stadium, Border Gate in Dehradun. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in this program. This event was organized by Seva Sankalp (Dharini) Foundation.

The Chief Minister met farmers from different districts and also tasted traditional products made from Malta and lemon.

Great potential for Malta farming

Addressing the program, the Chief Minister said that there is immense potential for the cultivation of Malta in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand. He announced the launch of Malta Mission to increase the income of farmers and give recognition to local fruits.

Under this mission, Malta’s farming, marketing and value addition will be promoted so that farmers can get better prices.

Focus on increasing farmers’ income

Chief Minister Dhami said that the aim of the state government is to increase the income of farmers in hilly areas. Through the Malta Mission, local fruits will be recognized at the national level.

He said that the fruits of Uttarakhand are not only better in taste but are also very beneficial from health point of view.

Uttarakhand News: Other fruits are also getting encouragement

The Chief Minister said that along with Malta, the Government is also promoting the production of other local fruits including kiwi, apples, peaches, plums, plums and different types of lemons.

With this, farmers will get new farming options and they will not be dependent on a single crop.

Platform to connect farmers and markets

Chief Minister Dhami said that events like Malta Festival work to connect farmers directly with consumers and the market. With this, farmers get the right price for their produce and people get information about local fruits.

Many dignitaries including IG ITBP Sanjay Gunjyal were present on this occasion. Everyone supported this initiative and expressed commitment to strengthen horticulture in Uttarakhand.
