Couple Expenses 2025: How expensive living in the metro cities of the country has become can be gauged from the expenditure figures shared by a couple from Bengaluru. In a video going viral on social media, the couple told that their total expenses reached ₹38 lakh in the year 2025. After this revelation, the debate on the middle class, lifestyle inflation and the reality of metro cities has intensified on social media.



Couple told how much money they spent in 2025


According to the couple, their biggest expense was rent and maintenance, which cost them ₹5.5 lakh in the entire year. Apart from this, ₹6 lakh was spent on groceries, eating out and shopping. The annual salary of the house help hired to help the house was ₹ 1.5 lakh.


The total spent on insurance and healthcare was ₹1 lakh, which included health insurance for spouse and mother, term plan, car insurance and corporate medical top-up. ₹1.4 lakh went on daily travel expenses, such as Uber rides, fuel and car servicing.



25 lakh mutual funds and other private investments


Travel also proved to be a big expense. The couple took three international trips and several domestic trips, which cost around ₹4 lakh, although this was also helped by credit card reward points. During the trip to America, only ₹ 2 lakh was spent on shopping, while the cost of accommodation and food was saved as relatives live there.


Apart from this, a car worth ₹11.2 lakh gifted to father was the biggest one-time expenditure of the year. Pending tax of ₹3.5 lakh was also paid after filing the income tax return. The expenditure was around ₹24,000 on gym membership and around ₹1.5 lakh including app subscription, coffee and remaining wedding expenses. The couple said that along with expenses, they also invested ₹25 lakh in mutual funds and other private investments.
