Magh Mela 2026: ‘Magh Mela 2026’ organized in Prayagraj District of UP is attracting devotees and tourists not only from the country but also from abroad. On Friday, January 9, Lucrezia, a female tourist from Italy, visited Triveni Sangam and described India as a ‘magical’ country. This is Lucrezia’s third visit to India, who has come here especially to experience the spiritual energy and eternal culture.
Speaking to news agency IANS, Lucrezia said that I travel all over the world with my father, but India always has a special place in our hearts. The people, food, culture and Hindu religion here are truly magical.
Spirituality and connection with ‘International Baba’
Lucrezia told that she came to India for the first time in 2024, after which she returned again to attend the Mahakumbh of 2025 and now the Magh Mela of 2026. Sharing his experiences with a spiritual guru, he said, ‘He is teaching me to be kind and give up unnecessary things. They are happy, because they have left everything. He is our ‘International Baba’ and even when we are in Italy, he shows us everything through video calls. Lucrezia is now planning to go to Varanasi after Prayagraj.
Magh Mela 2026: Key dates and bathing
This fair, which lasts for 44 days on the banks of Sangam, started on January 3 with Paush Purnima. According to the administration, lakhs of devotees have taken the holy dip so far. The upcoming important dates of the fair are as follows:
Makar Sankranti: 14 January
Mauni Amavasya: 18 January
Basant Panchami: 23 January
Maghi Purnima: 1 February
Mahashivratri (conclusion): 15 February
Strict security arrangements
On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, extensive arrangements have been made for security and facilities in the fair. According to officials, more than 1,500 CCTV cameras have been installed throughout the fair area. 24-hour monitoring is being done from a centralized command center. Water police, watch towers and modern equipment are being used for crowd management at the ghats.

Along with the Magh Mela, the entire fair area echoes with bhajans, kirtans and conch sounds. The presence of saints and Kalpavasis of various Akharas has made the atmosphere here completely spiritual. After around 22 lakh people took bath on the first Shahi Snan (Paush Purnima), now this number is expected to increase further on Makar Sankranti.
