TCS Work from Office Policy: TCS has stopped the anniversary appraisal of employees who do not come to office, tightening the work-from-office rules. Know the new WFO policy, attendance rules and its impact on employees.

TCS Appraisal on Hold: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has increased the strictness regarding work-from-office. Now as per the fixed rules, the direct impact is visible on the annual appraisal of the employees who do not come to office. The company has currently stopped the anniversary appraisal of some employees, due to which there is a stir among the employees. According to media reports, the final anniversary appraisal of those employees who did not follow the work-from-office (WFO) rules in the last few quarters has been put on hold. In many cases, the process has been completed at the manager level, but it is not getting further approval in the company's corporate system. The performance result of such employees will not be released at present.

More impact on TCS freshers

Anniversary appraisal in TCS is usually for freshers. When an employee completes one year, he or she gets an official e-mail and is updated on the Ultimatics portal. The company has already stopped this system for lateral hire employees in 2022, so the current decision is affecting mostly freshers.

Strict warning in TCS internal mail

According to an internal e-mail, some employees were told that their appraisal process has been completed, but it will not be processed further due to non-fulfillment of office attendance norms from July to September 2025. The mail also warns that if the rules are not followed further, the employee may be excluded from the entire banding process for FY26.

Now attendance will become a condition of appraisal in TCS

Appraisal generally includes goal setting, yearly performance, and manager's assessment. But now in TCS, coming to office has become the first condition of this entire process. That is, if the attendance is not correct, then everything else may be in vain. TCS has made it clear that employees will have to work from office five days a week. While many IT companies are still running on a hybrid model, TCS has adopted a full-time office policy. The company has also linked performance rating and variable salary to office attendance.

Relief to employees in some cases

The company has also given relief to the employees in some cases. Up to 6 days leave can be taken every quarter for personal reasons, which does not add up. For problems related to office space or network, a separate request option has been given. However, the company has made it clear that there will be no change or adjustment in the attendance later.
