The state government has taken a big step towards making the women of Assam economically empowered and self-reliant. The distribution of assistance under the ‘Chief Minister Women Entrepreneurship Campaign’ (MMUA) has started under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The objective of this scheme is to give wings to the dreams of those women who want to become self-reliant by starting their own small business.

First installment reached the accounts of 15 lakh women

Recently Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has shared a big information. He said that an initial capital of ₹10,000 has been sent to the bank accounts of more than 15 lakh women of the state. This money has been directly transferred to the beneficiaries through ‘Direct Benefit Transfer’ (DBT), so that there is no scope for any kind of fraud in between.

Help worth lakhs will be provided in three phases

The government aims to connect about 40 lakh women associated with self-help groups (SHGs) of the state with this scheme. This scheme works in three phases. In the first phase, the government gives a grant of ₹10,000 which will not have to be returned. Once the woman starts working, assistance of ₹25,000 is given in the second phase, half of which is a bank loan and the other half is a government subsidy. At the same time, if the business is successful, there is a provision of additional financial assistance of up to ₹ 50,000 in the third phase.

It is necessary to fulfill these special conditions

To avail the benefits of this scheme, the government has laid down some interesting and necessary conditions. The number of children for general and OBC category women should not exceed 3, while for SC/ST and tea garden communities the limit is 4 children. Apart from this, if the beneficiary’s daughter is of school going age, it is mandatory for her to get admission in the school. Besides, survival of the saplings planted under the ‘Amrit Vriksha Andolan’ is also an important condition for eligibility.

Apply like this sitting at home

The process to avail the benefits of the scheme has been kept very simple. Interested women can collect the form for free from their nearest Panchayat office or Municipality Board. Photocopy of Aadhar card, bank passbook and proof of SHG membership will have to be submitted along with the application. Apart from this, a self-declaration form (resolution letter) will also have to be submitted. After filling the form, it will have to be submitted to the block or panchayat office, after which the money will come directly into your account after verification.
