Bhopal. The state government is continuously making efforts to provide better, modern and quality education to the students. 799 government schools of Madhya Pradesh have been selected under the ambitious PMShri (Prime Minister Schools for Rising India) scheme of the Central Government. These schools are being developed by the School Education Department as ideal, modern and inclusive educational institutions in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020. Its objective is to provide a safe, comfortable and motivating environment with quality education to the students.
Through PMShri scheme, Madhya Pradesh is presenting a strong model of quality, innovation and inclusion in the field of education. These schools are playing an important role in making students capable citizens for the present challenges as well as the future.
Under the scheme, extensive work is being done to upgrade the physical infrastructure of schools in every academic session. Classrooms, laboratories, libraries and other academic facilities are being strengthened, making the study environment continuously better. Solar panels, clean drinking water and sanitation facilities are being developed under the Green School concept. Due to this, awareness among students about environmental protection is also increasing.
ICT labs, interactive panels and digital libraries are being developed in all higher and higher secondary PMSree schools to encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education and innovation. Along with this, 458 Atal Tinkering Labs are being established in the state, due to which scientific thinking, technical proficiency and spirit of innovation are being developed in the students.

In PMShree schools, priority is being given to the physical, mental and intellectual development of the students. For this, outdoor and indoor sports materials have been made available. Trained experts have been appointed for yoga, sports and music. Also, Maths-Science Circle activities, career guidance, mental health counselling, summer camps and self-defense training programs for girls are being organized regularly.
Vocational education has been effectively implemented as per the National Education Policy 2020. Vocational courses are being conducted in 650 out of 663 high and higher secondary PMShri schools in the state. Due to this, students are acquiring employment-oriented skills and they are becoming more self-reliant for the future.
To strengthen school administration, principals of PMSree schools have been given specialized training in prestigious institutions like IIM Indore, IIM Raipur and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Giving top priority to the safety of students, CCTV surveillance system and fire safety arrangements are being ensured in high and higher secondary schools. Additional classes are also being conducted for better preparation for board exams.
