gorakhpur7 January. Former IPS officer Amitabh Thakur, lodged in Deoria jail in a fraud case, suddenly deteriorated inside the jail late on Tuesday night. After complaining of chest pain, the jail administration immediately provided him first aid at Devraha Baba Medical College in Deoria and referred him to BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.

It is being speculated that Amitabh Thakur has suffered a heart attack. Keeping this in mind, he is being treated at BRD Medical College also. Principal of Gorakhpur BRD Medical College, Dr. Ramkumar Jaiswal said that the situation is being monitored. It is being seen whether he has suffered a heart attack or not. A team of doctors is treating him.

It is noteworthy that when he was SP in Deoria, Thakur was accused of fraud in purchasing land. In this connection, on December 10 last month, he was arrested in Shahjahanpur from a moving train while going from Lucknow to Delhi.
