Due to wrong eating habits, stress and irregular lifestyle, this disease is no longer limited only to the elderly, but the youth are also falling prey to it. What is heart attack?
Heart attack occurs when the blood supply to the heart muscle suddenly reduces or stops. Generally, this condition occurs when fat, cholesterol and other elements accumulate in the arteries of the heart and create blockage. Due to lack of blood and oxygen, the heart muscles start getting damaged.
Main causes of heart attack
High blood pressure, increased cholesterol, smoking and tobacco consumption, diabetes, obesity and lack of physical activity, excessive stress and irregular daily routine, family history etc.
4 main types of heart attack
1. STEMI (Severe Heart Attack)
This is considered to be the most dangerous type of heart attack. In this, the main artery of the heart gets completely closed, which can cause serious damage to the heart. If immediate treatment is not given, the condition can be fatal.
2. NSTEMI (Partial Heart Attack)
In this type the artery does not close completely, but stops partially. The damage is relatively less, but it should not be taken lightly, because it can take a serious form in the future.
3. Silent Heart Attack
In this the symptoms are very mild or sometimes not felt at all. The patient may feel general fatigue, mild discomfort or indigestion. This is revealed later during investigation.
4. Coronary spasm (sudden narrowing of the artery)
In this, the artery of the heart suddenly contracts, due to which the blood flow stops. This condition can sometimes lead to a heart attack even without a permanent blockage.
