Sports : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have decided to drop Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman from their team before the upcoming IPL 2026 season. The move came following formal instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as the controversy surrounding his participation and inclusion in the team had been intensifying in recent weeks. KKR bought him for Rs 9.20 crore in the IPL mini auction in December 2025, but off-field developments soon complicated the situation.

Also, the board assured that KKR can demand a replacement player, and the BCCI will recognize that request.

KKR said in a statement that BCCI/IPL has directed to release Mustafizur from the team and the decision was taken only after consultation with the board. The statement also said that as per the rules, a replacement player will be made available to KKR.
