Located in the heart of the Peak District, the village has stolen the hearts of its visitors. Derbyshire Times says the village looks like it is "frozen in time" and that the village is home to a "magical" feel.

Visitors have shared their tips for visiting the village, with one person posting to TikTok. On an account under the name of @greystonecottages, the person said at Christmas, the village is the "cutest" in England.

In the video, the visitor shows an authentic-looking local pub which is set amongst beautiful stone buildings.

The village is situated near the Peak District's famous Mam Tor walk, which offers incredible views over the surrounding area.

Castleton is popular for its show caves, history, shops, Christmas lights, garland ceremony, Winnats Pass, and Cave Dale, with many wishing to walk on the numerous footpaths in the area.

One must-visit spot in the area is Peveril Castle, a structure that stands as ruins high above the village.

Castleton is one of England's earliest Norman fortresses, and its keep was built by Henry II in 1176. From the top, you can take in an impressive view over Hope Valley.

In Castleton, you'll find traditional countryside pubs, perfect for a post-dinner walk to warm up after being out in the cold.

For those keen to explore the surrounding peaks, you can't miss out on taking the Mam Tor walk.

National Trust says: "The stone surfaced footpath from the car park to the top of Mam Tor will reward you with one of the most dramatic vistas in the Peak District.

"From the viewpoint, you can see north over the Edale Valley to Kinder Scout and the Derwent Moors. This circular route takes you round Mam Tor and has some amazing scenery."
