A section of the M11 has been closed following a serious crash on the major UK motorway. Emergency services have rushed to the scene, with drivers urged to "avoid the area".

National Highways East wrote on X: "The #M11 in #Essex remains closed northbound between J6 (#M25Interchange) & J7 (#Harlow) due to a serious collision. Emergency services are in attendance." Essex Police said one vehicle - a blue Nissan Almera - was involved in a crash, shortly before 7.40pm. The force is appealing for information following the serious collision, with a spokesperson adding: "Please avoid the area if you can, and if you saw what happened or have any dashcam footage, we need you to contact us."
