Christmas is a time for miracles - and Wolves almost produced one at Old Trafford. But even though the Premier League's rock-bottom side couldn't break their season's duck with a win - it didn't stop Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim from spitting feathers.
Somehow it felt fitting that United ended 2025 by failing to beat the worst team in the top flight. And on this evidence, there is little to suggest 2026 will be much better for a United side which has become the masters of being predictably unpredictable.
Joshua Zirkzee had fired United ahead, when his deflected shot beat Jose Sa on 27 minutes. But the visitors stunned Old Trafford with a shock equaliser from Ladislav Krejci on the stroke of half time. And it took a sensational double save from Senne Lammens to deny Krejci and then Yerson Mosquera from securing a win for Wolves that would have been as rare as a visit from Santa Clause himself.
United had headed into this clash with a host of leading lights missing, due to a combination of injuries and the African Cup of Nations. But despite Amorim having to field a weakened team, it was difficult to see anything other than a home win.

That's because Wolves were the visitors. A team with just two points to their name this season and rock bottom of the table, 16 points from safety. A side which had lost 25 league games this year, one short of matching the most ever in a calendar year, a record set by Ipswich Town in 1994.
But Wolves were the better team in the first half and didn't deserve to go behind. But Jose Sa was left with no chance when Zirkzee's shot deflected off the stomach of Krejci, to see the Dutchman score his first league goal on this ground in more than 12 months.
Given Wolves' track record, the outcome from here felt inevitable. But the visitors started to threaten and created chances which Tolu Arokodare and Hugo Bueno both missed. Yet the equaliser Wolves deserved came on the stroke of half time, when Krejci arrived at the back post to send a downward header past the outstretched hand of Lammens.
United were booed off - and Amorim looked furious. His mood wasn't helped when Sa somehow clawed out a header towards his own goal from Mosquera. While Jhon Arias saw a powerful effort whistle just wide at the opposite end, as the visitors sensed a famous triumph.
Wolves looked the more likely winners, only for Lammens to ride to United's rescue. To tone down the shade of red Amorim and his flops were left with on their glum-looking faces.
