During the reign of former US President Donald Trump, many Indians were deported from the US as illegal immigrants, which led to strong criticism against the US in India. Although the incidents of deportation of Indians from the US have been widely discussed, according to a recent report by the Ministry of External Affairs, Saudi Arabia has deported the most number of Indians in the last five years, and this is even more than the US.

The Ministry of External Affairs said in response to a written question on December 18 that Saudi Arabia has deported more Indians than the US. According to data from the Riyadh-based Indian Mission, Saudi Arabia is expected to deport a total of 7,019 Indians in 2025. This also includes figures from the Indian Embassy in Jeddah, which confirmed the deportation of 3,865 Indians.

According to the report, while deportation incidents in the US received widespread attention, the number of Indians actually deported remained less than in Saudi Arabia. However, America’s strictness and treatment towards Indians made the issue more sensitive, causing it to have a deep impact among Indians.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, there have been several reasons behind the deportation of Indians, including overstaying the prescribed visa period, working without a work permit, violation of labor rules and other legal issues.

Based on this data, it is clear that Saudi Arabia has left America behind in deporting Indians in the last few years. Although there have been challenging conditions for Indians in both the US and Saudi Arabia, the number of deportations of Indians from Saudi Arabia has been more than that of the US.
