Christmas : The State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) has announced that 900 special bus services would operate from Chennai to different districts of Tamil Nadu over the next two days in order to accommodate the anticipated spike in passenger travel before Christmas.

As people go to their hometowns and holy sites to celebrate the holiday, the transportation authorities anticipate a significant increase in traffic from Chennai and other major cities. The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has made the decision to run special buses in addition to its normal services in order to guarantee passengers’ smooth travel due to the increased demand.

The Kilambakkam Integrated Bus Terminus, which serves long-distance services from southern Chennai, would run the bulk of the special trips, according to authorities.

Chennai will be connected to different areas of the state by 255 special buses from Kilambakkam on Wednesday and 525 buses on Thursday. High-demand routes including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchirappalli, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode, and Tiruppur will be served by the special services.

During festival seasons, these locations usually see high passenger volumes, particularly from office workers and students returning home. Additionally, special buses would go from Chennai and Coimbatore to Bengaluru, Nagapattinam, Tiruvannamalai, Velankanni, and Hosur.

Over the course of the two days, 91 customized buses are planned for these routes. To further reduce passenger congestion, 20 more special buses would be run from Madhavaram in North Chennai.

According to officials, special return services would also be offered on Sunday from different locations in Tamil Nadu to Chennai and Bengaluru, depending on demand, to make it easier for travelers to return after the Christmas holidays.

To minimize last-minute hassle, travelers are encouraged to utilize official booking sites and plan their journey in advance. According to the transport businesses, the extra services are meant to guarantee fast, convenient, and safe travel during the holiday season.
