The momentum seems to be returning once again in India's IT sector. The total demand for IT jobs has reached 18 lakh in the year 2025, which is about 16 percent more than last year. This information has been revealed in Quess Corp's report IT Workforce Trends in India 2025. According to the report, new technology and increasing presence of global companies have strengthened the IT job market.

The biggest reason for this growth is the Global Capability Centers (GCCs) being built in India by foreign companies. The share of GCCs in total IT hiring will reach about 27 percent by 2025, which was about 15 percent a year ago. These centers are working on advanced technology, data and digital projects in India, due to which the demand for skilled professionals has increased rapidly.

Huge demand for new technology skills

The report shows that a large portion of IT hiring is now focused on emerging digital skills. Jobs have increased rapidly in areas like AI, machine learning, cloud, DevOps and cyber security. At the same time, the share of old or legacy technology skills has remained less than 10 percent and is continuously declining.

More opportunities for experienced professionals

IT companies are now giving preference to people with more experience than freshers. The share of professionals with 4 to 10 years of experience was about 65 percent of the total hiring, while entry-level jobs were limited to only 15 percent. It is clear from this that companies are giving priority to talent who can handle the work immediately.

There was also an increase in salary

Salaries in roles related to new technology have also increased rapidly. Posts like Generative AI, MLOps, Cyber ​​Threat Analyst, Cloud and Platform Architect saw 10 to 40 percent higher salary. Due to this, the trend of learning these skills has also increased among IT professionals.

IT jobs are still mostly limited to tier-1 cities, which account for about 90 percent of the total demand. Also, companies are now adopting a more stringent selection process, due to which recruitment is taking 45 to 60 days. For special skills this time is even reaching 90 days.

The pace will continue in future also

According to the report, the pace of IT hiring may continue in 2026 also. Along with new digital technology, AI and cloud roles, opportunities are expected to gradually increase in tier-2 cities as well.
