New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings spinner Rahul Chahar chose between Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer in a light-hearted This or That segment on the CricTracker Instagram handle. The 26-year-old picked Rohit explaining that he has played under him more often.

Both Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer are IPL title-winning captains. Rohit guided Mumbai Indians to five IPL title between 2013 and 2023 while Iyer led Kolkata Knight Riders to the title in 2024.

Iyer also led Punjab Kings to a runners-up finish in 2025 after 11-years. Rohit has emerged victorious in 87 matches out of 158 matches while Iyer has 48 wins out of 87 games.
Rahul played for Mumbai Indians under under Rohit Sharma
Chahar earlier represented MI under the leadership of Rohit from 2019 to 2021 helping the franchise win back-to-back titles in his first two years.

The leg-spinner also picked Mumbai Indians over Punjab Kings as his favourite franchise citing the two titles he won with MI. Chahar represented PBKS from 2022 to 2024 but the team failed to reach the playoffs in all three seasons.

Rahul Chahar was also asked to choose between his current franchise CSK and former side MI in terms of having the louder fanbase. After giving it some thought the 26-year-old opted for CSK. Both teams share the record for the most IPL titles with five each.
Chennai Super Kings acquired Chahar for Rs 5.20 crore
MS Dhonis CSK acquired Chahar for Rs 5.2 crore in the IPL 2026 auction after he went unsold initially. CSK have struggled over the past two IPL seasons failing to make the playoffs in 2024 and ending this season at the bottom of the table.

The leg-spinner had a disappointing IPL 2025 with SunRisers Hyderabad featuring in just one match and failing to take a wicket.

Chahar boasts an impressive overall IPL record with 75 wickets in 79 matches at an average of 28.66 and an economy of 7.72.
